Probably could have found a camera better equipped for the money August 28, 2008 Ryan W. Washington Good camera. I was looking for something different and I liked how the door slides in the front to turn the camera on and off and the zoom lens doesn't stick out like others. I was debating betweeen this and the Exilm. I went Fuji because I figured they have been in the camera and optics industry for a long time and would have the best quality. The quality seems great. A few downsides...The viewfinder to take the pictures in the front of the camera in the upper corner is usually where I put my left middle finger so once I found a few pictures taken with my finger in it, I had to remember to keep away. My girlfriend did the same thing so I know it's not just me. Also, I was hoping there would be a zoom availible when recording videos, but I don't see this availible. Lastly, this has a 3x zoom and so does my Cannon, but for some reason my Cannon seems to zoom much further.
Great Little Camera! August 27, 2008 Barb (Pendleton, NY) I was very impressed with this camera. The picture quality was supurb and it was very easy to use. For those of you who are clumbsy or have kids that want to look at the picture you took "right away" this camera is perfect. Why do I say that? My last camera ( a Canon, which I also loved dearly) had a retractable lens. My son accidently dropped the camera on a carpeted surface and the lens bent and would not retract. Thus, my investment had to be trashed. The Fuji does not have a retractable lens and thus the problem has been eliminated! The bright colors are awesome! I am still learning about all the features, but I would recommend this camera to anyone!
Sharp 'n Easy August 25, 2008 C. Schormann 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fujifilm Finepix 10MP camera is by far the best digital cam I have ever used. I have a higher end Canon 8MP and this blows those pix away. Ease of use and small portable size along with easy connectivity make this a real winner. BTW it cost $600 less than the Canon.
Great camera for the price and features. August 20, 2008 Adam J. Helgren (Nebraksa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I sell this, among other cameras at a retail store. So I knew what I wanted and liked before I purchased this.
Canon is pretty much the best, but it lacks a couple of things I wanted, that this camera has, such as a non-telescoping lens, and a dedicated movie button. The menu system is nice, and relatively easy to navigate, but does kick you out once you make a selection, which can get annoying, especially when first setting it up.
The only really big downside for me is the fact that the zoom button isn't by the shutter. Since it is on the backside of the camera with the screen, it is hard to use one handed.
Overall, the pros outweighed the cons. This isnt the absolute best camera, but for the price, its great, which is why I gave it four, instead of five stars.
Excellent 'budget' Camera, Sub-par if you're used to mid-grade cameras. August 19, 2008 JenMtnGirl I bought this camera to replace my Kodak V603 Easyshare camera. I was looking to replace it with another like-quality camera, but with added megapixels & features. The Kodak originally cost me $279, so when I found this Fujifilm Finepix 10 megapixel camera for only $159, I was thrilled! I figured I would be getting WAY more bang for my buck. And on paper, it seemed like it had almost every feature that other, higher priced cameras have (like Canon's Powershot cameras). Well, I was disappointed after only a few hours. It takes lovely brightly colored pictures, INCREDIBLE close-up macro shots, but the shutter speed and response time left something to be desired. Also, the pictures all turned out a bit grainy, and with lots of purple edges when zoomed in all the way.
What it comes down to is quality of parts. Yes, this camera does everything it says it will, but not as well as higher priced cameras. You get what you pay for.
If you're just looking for a fun point & shoot camera, and aren't picky about details, this would be an excellent camera. But don't replace a mid-grade camera with this one. You'll end up let down.
I returned it and got the Canon Powershot SD1100, and am finally satisfied.
