 Convenient but expensive to keep replacing January 2, 2009

I won't lie. My parents love this remote, once I programmed it for them(not rocket science, but the numbers in the book are much smaller than the numbers on this remote) they used it and used it up. In a matter of months. Now the most commonly used buttons (channel and volume) won't function without a serious amount of effort.
All in all it's probably worth the 10$ every 6 months or so.
On a side note it also makes a nice reading/writing platform, and it hardly ever gets lost.
I will be shopping for a different brand, hopefully I'll find something of a similar size with a longer life.

My wife got one of these because the cable remote broke and she was tired of losing the various remotes in the sofa cushions, etc. I figured that it would probably be a piece of junk, but have been pleasantly surprised!
The components were relatively easy to program into it and the controls replicate the correct functions of the components, much to my amazement! The only other thing that would be nice would be a way to make the keys light up, but that would probably make it much more expensive and go through batteries faster.
This would make a good holiday gift for just about anyone!
