Product Description The built-in variable power of the Vivitar 285HV auto professional flash provides you with fill flash and the ability to shoot properly exposed rapid-sequence pictures. This vertical bounce flash gives your photographs soft, professional lighting. The four f-stops give you control over the flash distance range and the depth of field, while the auto Thyristor circuitry allows for a faster recycling time as well as more flashes per set of batteries. +PLUS+ ACCESSORY KIT:

Nice Flash Package January 31, 2008 D. Razorsek (Pittsburgh) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying if your camera has a hot-shoe you need to add an external flash. The built-in flashes on cameras are pathetic and should not be used unless you are in an odd situation which you do not have your accessory flash handy and you absolutely need to take a picture right away. I could kick myself for waiting so long to purchase a new flash. The difference in pictures from using the built-in flash on the camera to ones taken with my new 285HV are night and day (pun intended). I currently own a Vivitar 283 that must be at least 25 years old and not compatible with my current digital equipment because of high sync voltages. The "slightly" redesigned 285HV address these issues. Over all this is a fantastic flash that is as close as you can come to being bullet proof in the camera world. Sure it doesn't have all the fancy TTL stuff Nikon flashes have (I currently shoot with Nikon cameras) but it also doesn't have the high price of those fancy flashes either. It is not very hard to figure the settings out, in fact it is fun playing with different settings and seeing how it affects the image. If I can figure how to use this flash so can you!
GOOD FOR THE PRICE September 11, 2007 S. A. MUNOZ (SAN ANTONIO, TX) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
THE VIVITAR FLASH I PURCHASED ALONG WITH THE ACCESSORIES THAT CAME WITH IT ARE WORTH THE PRICE. THE ACCESSORY I USE MOST IS THE BOX DIFFUSER WHICH GIVE ME VERY NICE EVEN LIGHTING.
