Product Description Opteka specializes in manufacturing special optical devices for the past several years, would like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly developed product called the "HD Infrared X-Ray Effect See-Through Multi-Coated Filter". This filter makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't; this fantastic new product has been developed using the most highly advanced optical technologies available. This filter will filter out 99% of light seen by the naked eye only allowing infrared light through so that technically the naked eye can see 100% black when the filter is in place. Multi-coating prevents light reflection, ghost light...etc, making images clearer and sharper. On your digital camcorder, turn the "Nightshot" function on - the naked eye cannot pick up the high contrast black, so with the infrared filter and Nightshot combination, for example, it will help you see in the images provided, that we 'accidentally' spilt some permanent ink on this document and the text is now impossible to read. However, when we attached the filter to our Sony 'TR250PK' camcorder, the writing is clearly legible through the ink - thus the x-ray effect! The Opteka IR Filter is also able to see through some types of clothes, for example, thin clothes, tight clothes, sundresses, swimsuits, sunglasses, and so forth. Be aware that this means that you can see a person's body or underwear through the external garment. In other words, this filter allows you to "see through" someone's clothes. You will be amazed with the power if you take the time to experiment and experience its capabilities for yourself. If you already have a digital camcorder with the Nightshot feature and are interested in experimenting with the X-Ray effect, this is by far the least expensive method, giving you the results you are looking for. Just screw on the filter, switch on the 'Night' feature, and you are ready to go!

Few practical applications December 16, 2008 Joel G. Landau (Austin, TX) Neat concept, but in practice, there's not much you can do unless you have a LOT of exposure time or a very fast lens. Pros: * I'm sure some very interesting photography can be had with this filter Cons: * On my rig, at least, a long exposure and stead tripod are needed, so no candid photography
Don't buy it unless you have a Sony Camcorder with Night mode. November 5, 2008 JZ (New York ,NY USA) The Opteka HD 72mm R72 720nm Infrared X-Ray IR Filter don't work on all digital camera, maybe for Sony digital camcorder only. They didn't say it in ads, very misleading. When I called "47th Street Photo", they said maybe you can do this and that to make it work, all BS. It didn't work at all. And they charged 15% restocking fee even though the filter doesn't have with any special packaging. And they would not wavie the 15% fee.
Not so good as it looks like September 25, 2008 modelphoto1 (New York) Well the service from 47th Street Photo Was Great. But item which i receive is not so good as i expected. First of all to make a picture like you can see on the link is very hard as the model will have to be a really dead and not to move for like 20 seconds. which is not possible. and if its inside of the building it will not show anything just blank black screen.also to create any kind of nature picture you will need a really sunny day otherwise it will be absolutely black. So if you expect to see a naked Woman's on the street -Forget it.
Excellent for Digital IR July 3, 2008 M. Farmer Was unsure which filter to buy, due to the price I took a chance and it worked very well with my Nikon D50.
Good Service May 21, 2008 Mr. D. G. Harper (UK) Good company. I'm UK based so it was vital they took the order and dispatched while I was still on vacation in the US. No problems.
